əˈnʌl.mənt (law) a formal termination (of a relationship or a judicial proceeding etc.) when a person's thoughts and feelings are rejected, ignored, or judged. Invalidation is emotionally upsetting for anyone, but particularly hurtful for someone who is emotionally sensitive.
